In the spring of 2020, my partner and I decided to make a homemade version of Settlers of Catan – this was the time of lockdown, so not only we had a lot of time to play a lot of board games, but also to make one!
I painted the tiles, initially deciding between a realistic style and more of a cartoony one. I created a couple sketches to make each tile feel slightly different, painted with acrylics onto the pre-cut tiles and here is the result! We also cut our own pieces of roads, houses, and cities. I love how the finished set came out, perfect game to pass the time in lockdown, and a family favourite to this day!
November 2022 UPDATE:
Two and a half years later, we revisited our beloved Catan set. Since we are now out of lockdown and Catan is a favourite in any family/friends gathering, extra wooden sets were needed.
