Shortly after moving into my current house, when we still didn’t have any furniture, I came across a table that had been left outside free for any takers. It looked quite sturdy and elegant, sadly it had been raining directly on it for some time, so it very much looked like its best years were behind it.
I took it home and decided to give it a little makeover! It was a long process of picking off rotten wood, sanding, sealing, painting, glueing, and saying goodbyes, but I did it and now it’s living its best life in a new home (not my home it must be said, after a lot of back and forth we decided that it was too big for us and it was better to give it away!)
The top is a decoupage with cutouts from local Cornish newspapers containing good news ONLY! An answer to the endless stream of bad news and drama surrounding us every day. I love the idea of sitting down with your coffee at a table covered in heartwarming news, stories, events, and other snippets of goodness! Included is my all time favourite headline: ‘Old boot lying on a pile of seaweed raises a smile.’
